| STEVE MCCLURE'S HARDEST LINE YET....? |
 |
Its that man Steve McClure again this time working a new line on the famous North Buttress of Kilnsey. The route, as yet unclimbed, is an extension to Northern Exposure which finishes halfway up a blank wall. From the top of Northern Exposure Steve gets a crafty 'rest' from a crazy heel hook then breaks into some very, very thin and sustained climbing only to be greeted by a desperate reach for an awful undercut. From there its more spectacular and gymnastic climbing diagonally up and right to find another classic McClure 'rest' - the bat hang! Still a few more long and steep moves to finish the roof before the jugs of glory and cigars all round.
Steve says the route is definitely as hard as his latest offering 'Overshadow' (9a+) at Malham and is potentially even harder which would make it one of the hardest routes in the world and certainly the hardest in Britain.
Regardless of grades its an absolute crackerjack of a route, long with varied and awesome climbing.
We filmed Steve working the route for the forthcoming Posing Productions dvd - PSYCHE out OCT.
