ALASTAIR LEE WINS MAJOR INTERNATIONAL FILM-MAKING AWARD |
|
Adventure film-maker Alastair Lee has been awarded one of the highest international accolades in his industry. At the annual Trento Film Festival on Saturday 4th May, Lee was presented with the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF) Grand Prix, in recognition of his body of work during the last decade.
The International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF) was founded in, 2000, to recognise and celebrate individuals who have changed the world of mountain film making. The IAMF shines a spotlight on filmmakers, directors and producers who have contributed throughout their careers to build mountain film into the high profile genre that it is today. The Grand Prix is awarded annually to an individual who the IAMF believes has made a major contribution to the development of mountain film on an international stage.
Alastair Lee comments:
“It’s a huge honour to receive such a prestigious award. When I started film making I really never imagined I'd have anything like this success. I only wanted to avoid getting a 'proper job' so to have my work recognised like this is really a special moment for me. I'd like to dedicate the award to all of the climbers I've had the pleasure of working with over the past decade.”

AUTANA WINS BIG IN KRAKOW... |

Dziękuję Krakow, what an honour. Our latest 2012 production 'AUTANA' has scooped the big prize at Poland's big festival; THE GRAND PRIZE at the Krakow Mountain Festival Festival. Briliant for the film to get the recognition for its depth from the esteemed interational jury. Words from the Jury (translation)- The top prize in the international competition of the films - the Grand Prix has been granted KFG 2012 "Autana" directed by Alastair Lee. Three crazy Brits, Leo Houlding, Jason Pickles and Stanley Leary, travel to Venezuela, to lay out a road to the Cerro Autana. In support of the jury reads: it is nice to look at, as with any year of Alastair Lee is developing as a Director. "Autana" is a film that can be received in three different dimensions - as pure adventure, a high-quality document with a very difficult trip and gain greater characters, the human psyche.

Here's a little taster - 'If Francis Ford Coppolla had teamed up with a bunch of wild-eyed big wall climbers instead of Sheen and Brando, and made a documentary about Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lost World instead of Vietnam and Conrad, then he might well have made a film quite like Autana. AUTANA SCREENING TIMES AT KMFF... |

Screening times for the new Posing Productions film; 'AUTANA', on at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival are now at the Festival website. In a nutshell its part of the 'Climbing 3' program which is on Friday and Saturday morning (last in the 9-12pm slot) at the Brewery Arts Centre Theatre and again in the Studio on Sunday morning. The Saturday night screening in the Theatre with Leo and Al has now sold out.

Autana has been selected as a finalist at this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival - North American Premiere no less. This clip shows a head-point ascent featuring one of Gritstone's great lines; 'Reservoir Dogs' E8 7a at Widdop in Yorkshire. This clip is actually a bonus feature in the Moonflower dvd but we figured it'd be nice to give such a great ascent a bit more exposure. Here we see alpinist Nik Bullock making the first ascent of 'The Frumious Bandersnatch' (E7) at Rhoscolyn in North Wales. Flakey rock, run outs on marginal gear, a hippy and lots of psyche! GREENLAND PRODUCT TESTING... |
|
We're just back from a three week trip in Greenland with team Berghaus doing some filming and photography of their very latest product development and testing in conjunction with Mtn Haus and top adventurer Leo Houlding. For the last part of the trip we ventured across the sea ice of Scoresby Sound to Renland for a spot of cold weather training in preparation for big expedition later in 2012. More info and pictures coming soon, for now lets just say we got what we wanted with nine consecutive nights of around -25 and then a nice 30km ski fueled by a couple of energy bars and a few mouthfuls of snow to reach safety. All good fun.
